Videostream Centre showcases a special video-streaming product Remote Sonogram Viewing Platform (RSVP). This product helps medical professionals to remotely view diagnostic videos such as Echocardiograms, Sonograms or Ultrasounds over the Internet. This can facilitate rapid interpretation of diagnostic data from super specialty centers and promotes timely and effective management of patients in areas where tertiary care is not easily available. A super specialist can view and interpret data from different diagnostic centers at his desk.

RSVP is a product developed at Innovatv. Innovatv was established in July 1997 as collaboration between Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Multimedia Laboratory at the University of California, San Diego. It develops end-to-end, digital video-based applications deployed on the Internet and intranets.

Captures sonogram, and encodes into a streamable Internet video format.
Automatically uploads video, patient information, and physician comments to an Internet-based server.
Pager notification of sonogram availability, and physician comments.
Enables receiving physician to view sonogram on secure, password protected site
Ability to post comments to patient’s case, using any PC with high-speed Internet access.
Physicians comments are printable, with digital signatures included in patient’s file.
Diagnostic quality video
Ability to navigate video through pause, play, fast-forward and reverse buttons and also using thumbnails.
Availability of studies on server for a finite period of time, and then permanently deleted.

RSVP Deployment and Workflow

Workflow

Step 1: EchoTech/Nurse inserts taped sonogram into VCR.

Step 2: Enters patient information, with diagnostic comments for study.

Step 3: Clicks “Record” button to record and send sonogram.

Step 4: Video is then automatically digitized, compressed, and uploaded to secure RSVP Internet site.

Step 5: Receiving physician is automatically and immediately notified, via pager, of the sonograms availability.

Step 6: Receiving physician proceeds to any PC with a high-speed Internet connection, and logs into password protected RSVP site to view the Sonogram.

Step 7: Views and navigates sonogram through forward, reverse, and pause controls.

Step 8: Receiving physician enters remarks in the “Comment” section, and submits.

Step 9: Paging alert is automatically and immediately sent to the originating physician, notifying of feedback.

Step 10: Originating physician logs onto the RSVP site, to view and print comments with referral Physician’s digital signature.
