American Heart Month
Make a difference: Join American Heart Association’s fight against heart disease.
DALLAS, February 1, 2002 —Help the American Heart Association defeat coronary heart disease — the single leading cause of death in the United States — by participating in these activities during American Heart Month this February.
Learn CPR: In one afternoon you could learn CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) — two skills that can help save the lives of victims of sudden cardiac arrest. That’s why the American Heart Association urges Americans to learn CPR and support community AED programs. The more prepared we are to treat sudden cardiac arrest, the more lives we can save. Take action for the people you love.
Power of Love: Help stop a disease that kills someone every 33 seconds. Show your family the Power of Love. By buying products from Power of Love campaign supporters, you help raise much-needed funds for heart disease and stroke research and educational programs. Power of Love supporters are donating a portion of their February sales from select products to the American Heart Association. Campaign supporters include OPI Products, Inc.; Pantene; Home Interiors and Gifts; Swarovski Crystal; MasterCard International; and Walgreens.
Search Your Heart: African Americans are disproportionately affected by high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attack and sudden cardiac arrest. During Black History Month this February, change your history and create a new legacy for your family by participating in Search Your Heart. The faith-based program teaches people how to reduce risks of heart disease and stroke through screenings, workshops and heart-healthy activities.
