Sankalp

Sankalp, The School for Special Needs was set up under the Sankalp Trust, a non profit organisation, in 1999. The founder directors Lakshmi Krishna Kumar, Sulata Ajit and Subhashini Rao, bring a wide range of educational experience and a special focus to the education of children with special needs.

Some areas that Sankalp works with are:

• Learning Disability. Sankalp has its own students with LD. It also takes in students from other institutions, gives them full time remedial instruction and helps them get back to a “normal” school. (Pull out and mainstreaming option)

• Asperger’s Disease, which is a developmental disease affecting social interaction.

• Autism: A developmental disability that affects social interaction, communication and imaginative play.

The educational and extracurricular programmes are individualised: curriculum is moulded in such a fashion that it meets the requirements and capacity of each child, offering more practical options rather than a standard syllabus, which may not have much meaning for children with varying levels of disabilities.

The school also offers parental support and awareness programmes.
Sankalp also conducts teacher Training Programmes.
Apart from the in house faculty , we engage the services of experienced specialists/consultants in diverse areas such as management, education, communication, fine arts, language skills and extra curricular activities.
The school tries its best to adopt the latest and best techniques that emerge in special needs care.
