How Efficient are your Kidneys?

For a pair of fist sized organs in the abdomen, kidneys are pretty smart waste collectors. Creatinine is a waste product that is generated by (normal) muscle wear and tear and dumped in the blood. Healthy kidneys take the creatinine from the blood and put it in the urine and send it out of the body.

When your kidneys are not working well, creatinine builds up in the blood. Creatinine clearance test tells you how fast the kidneys are able to clear creatinine out of the blood.
